The exhibition “Models and Makers” featured more than 100 works by students and fellows who have received their training at Studio Incamminati. This exhibition breaks the mold by also including two dozen artworks and performances by the talented models who pose for the school.  

This unprecedented conjunction celebrates and honors the precious, collaborative relationship between artists and their subjects, prodding viewers to recognize the collaborative interplay of trust and communication between artists and their human subjects — an unpredictable yet consequential factor in the creation of original works of figurative art. By challenging the false cliché that would oppose “active” makers to supposedly “passive” models, this exhibition promises to remind us of the complex and dynamic relationship between artists, models, and the art that is born of those encounters.
