Experience the landscape firsthand in this four-session outdoor painting course taught by Studio Incamminati faculty member Gregory Blue. Held on four Saturdays in October at Natural Lands protected places – Stroud Preserve, ChesLen Preserve, Stoneleigh: a natural garden and Pier 68 on the Philadelphia Waterfront. The class will give students the opportunity to paint directly from nature while exploring composition, color, light, atmosphere, and the challenges of working en plein air.
Each session will take place at a different preserved landscape in the Philadelphia area, offering students a variety of natural environments and subject matter. Through demonstrations, individual instruction, and sustained painting, students will develop their ability to observe, simplify, and translate the landscape into a compelling work of art.
Presented in partnership with Natural Lands, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and caring for open spaces throughout the region.
Note: There is a maximum of 10 participants due to the sensitive ecology of some of the locations.

Nature is magical. Few other things have the same power to inspire, heal, connect, and nurture us. And that’s not just our opinion. Scientists have proven that spending time in nature improves our physical and mental health, relieves stress, and brings us together.
In order to encourage everyone to get outdoors, Natural Lands’ nature preserves and public garden are open to all, free of charge. We host hundreds of events every year.
Supply List
Participants should bring their preferred paints, brushes, and painting surface (canvas, panel, paper, etc.), along with a lightweight portable easel. A hat and other appropriate outdoor gear are also recommended.
Please pack with portability in mind: participants will walk through the preserve to select their painting location and must be able to comfortably carry all of their own supplies and equipment. Bring any additional materials you like to work with, but we recommend keeping your setup simple and lightweight.

Workshops Payment and Refund Policies
Due to limited class space, tuition is non-refundable. A credit for tuition may be issued up to
30 days before the first workshop class. No credit will be issued after that time. Credits are valid from one year of issue. Registration and enrollment is first-come, first-served with full tuition due at time of registration.
Continuing Education and Emerging Artists School-year Program Payment and Refund Policies
Due to limited class space, tuition must be paid in full at time of registration. A $100 fee is applied for cancellation up to the first class. No refunds will be issued after the first class.
