Figure Drawing

During these 8 weeks, students will learn and practice the fundamentals of a figure-drawing block-in, eventually moving on to describing form and light effects throughout a sustained pose. Instruction emphasis will be on gesture, structure, and proportion, while still maintaining a holistic read on the drawing
Beyond establishing a strong block-in, students will then begin to build upon and refine their drawings, gaining the opportunity to solidify concepts such as tonal relationships, structure, and form.
Gradually, we will take these specific block-ins to a finish in tandem with our discussions on achieving light effect through value relationships, and form through clarity and integration. We will explore the figure’s relationship to environment through atmosphere, while still holding onto specificity and improving our final design.
*This Class will feature a long-pose model that will be shared between Ethan Martin’s Monday Figure Drawing and Mina’s Wednesday Figure Drawing courses. These classes can be taken separately or in conjunction with each other as an extended program*
Workshops Payment and Refund Policies
Due to limited class space, tuition is non-refundable. A credit for tuition may be issued up to
30 days before the first workshop class. No credit will be issued after that time. Credits are valid from one year of issue. Registration and enrollment is first-come, first-served with full tuition due at time of registration.
Continuing Education and Emerging Artists School-year Program Payment and Refund Policies
Due to limited class space, tuition must be paid in full at time of registration. A $100 fee is applied for cancellation up to the first class. No refunds will be issued after the first class.
