This class will cover the fundamentals of figure drawing through an architectural lens in which students will be introduced to key ideas such as:

 – Establishing a sense of weight

 – Simplifying key structural masses

 – How our viewing point shapes our perception of structure

 – Key anatomical landmarks

 – Balancing intuition with accuracy

 – How to use tone as a means of indicating topographical change rather than light effect

The course will begin with a demonstration followed by drawing time which will be aided by instructor critiques. Shorter demonstrations may occur throughout the class.
