The primary focus of this class will be developing oil paintings from observation. Beginning with a quick, broad application of the predominant color spots, paintings will gradually be developed toward a higher resolution with an emphasis on maintaining tonal structure while building a rich color harmony.
The process will aim to develop a more intuitive, reactive way of building color relationships for both short and longer paintings. Additional strategies will include examining planar relationships, orientation to the light, perspective, as well as employing basic color theory to create harmonious light effects.
The class will consist of demonstrations and lectures, along with one on one critiques as participants develop their own work.
Workshops Payment and Refund Policies
Due to limited class space, tuition is non-refundable. A credit for tuition may be issued up to
30 days before the first workshop class. No credit will be issued after that time. Credits are valid from one year of issue. Registration and enrollment is first-come, first-served with full tuition due at time of registration.
